Tap, Tap, Tap

Bye-bye winter.  Hello spring.  It's an exciting time at Jackman.   On Friday, we tapped 9 maple trees in our schoolyard.  An amazing learning experience for everyone involved.

We've been watching the weather forecasts for weeks and tried to determine the best day to tap.   And I think we got it right.   I dropped by the school this weekend and harvested the sap in our buckets.    And get this... we've already got 24 litres of sap!   Impressive.   Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

This year, during our tree tapping ceremony, we acknowledged the First Nations People who have been collecting sap for hundreds of years.  We began our ceremony with this aboriginal reading.
